9 Philippine-based start-ups that made it to YC

Y Combinator, one of the most well-known start-up accelerators, has been behind disruptive start-ups like Airbnb, Coinbase, DoorDash, Reddit and Twitch.

It was founded in 2005 and has launched over 4,000 companies. Despite that, only 9 startups from the Philippines have made it. Here are the start-ups that got into YC!

  1. MadEats (YC S21)

    • Industry: E-commerce

    • Founded: 2020

    • Founders: Mike Villareal, Keisha Lao, Andie Cruz

What does it do: an online delivery-only restaurant group in the Philippines, building affordable, high margin food brands by using its own ghost kitchens

  1. Dashlabs.ai (YC W21)

    • Industry: Digital health

    • Founded: 2020

    • Founders: Bryan Giger, Martin Gomez, Weston Lim

What does it do: provides DIY lab software. They focus on small and mid-sized labs in emerging markets that still do manual processes, and don’t have access to good lab software

What does it do: an online school that teaches Filipinos to become remote software engineers globally for a share of their future income

  1. NextPay (YC W21)

    • Industry: FinTech

    • Founded: 2019

What does it do: a digital bank for small businesses and entrepreneurs; used to send invoices, collect payments, do payroll, and pay their bills

What does it do: a shipping platform that enables online business owners to book on-demand and standard orders using multiple couriers

What does it do: home-lending-as-a-service for Southeast Asia; enabling any bank and NFBI to launch its own home lending platform

What does it do: provides all-in-one health plans and access to the top healthcare providers

What does it do: builds products and tools that enable thousands of individuals and businesses in the Philippines to make and receive payments over the Internet

  1. Kalibrr (YC W13)

    • Industry: Recruiting

    • Founded: 2013

    • Founders: Paul Rivera, Dexter Gordon, Danny Castonguay

What does it do: a place where you can recruit and build remote sales, product, engineering or design team in the Philippines within minutes
